More awards for Roxas City, and counting...
Monday, May 04 2015

The Roxas City government under Mayor Angel Alan B. Celino may yet go down in the history as the most awarded.

Just very recently, the Department of the Interior and Local Government conferred to the City the Good Financial Housekeeping, the third time is has bestowed such award. The award attests to the City's viable financial condition, which makes it highly eligible for more grants from various DILG programs.

As such, the Roxas City government has become a strong contender for the Seal of Good Governance, also from the DILG.

Roxas City has also been picked one of the top four cities - along with Cagayan de Oro, Valenzuela and Zamboanga - in the USAID sponsored planning and design competition dubbed Liveable Cities Design Challenge.

One of the goals of the Challenge is for city planners to design a City that offers safety, convenience, Livelihood, lifestyle and sustainability and would attract people to live, work, and play, thereby making it more competitive.

This has become more imperative in the case of Roxas City, an emerging economic hub, Mayor Angel Alan B. Celino said.

The most recent to invest in Roxas City is the Citymall, which is on top of the Robinson's mall and other new resorts and restaurants.

Most notable among the awards is the Hall of Fame Red Orchid award from the Department of Health for Roxas City's drive against tobacco use in public places. As result, Mayor Celino has been asked to form a network of mayors in the campaign against tobacco use.

Roxas City is also now deemed a model nationwide against tobacco use in public places.
