Roxas City Emergency Responder Hotline

Living up to his calling
Wednesday, May 20 2015

After many years in public service –which has apparently become his calling, Mayor Angel Alan B. Celino is deeply concerned with how he can further live up to the people expectations. Given the continued trust and confidence reposed on him by the city electorate, Mayor Celino seems compelled to do more so as not to frustrate the people, particularly those who continue to keep faith in him and his capability to steer the City to greater heights.

Guided by this battle cry sa Pagbag-o (For a Change), the mayor has been successful in fighting bad practices at the city's seat of power and in rallying employees, in particular, and city residents, in general, to change for the better.

No less than the Civil Service Commission validated these "modest achievements" of Mayor Celino when it graded the Roxas Ciy employees excellent –with a score of 93.56 –in the Anti-Red Tape Act Assessment and Evaluation. It cited the degree of compliance of various government offices unbder City Hall, which is all about transparency in governance.

The City, for the third time, has been conferred the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping by the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The Department of Finance also acknowledged the rapid growth of the Roxas City economy. In its Statement of Receipts and Expenditures, it ranks Roxas City as third in Western Visayas, next to Iloilo and Bacolod, in the LGU's capability to raise income from local sources. Roxas City's yearly income now averages P400 million, from the P280 million in earned in previous years.
