ROXAS City – “Bigger, better and brighter Roxas City.”
This is the commitment of re-elected Mayor Ronnie Dadivas as he took a fresh mandate from the people of Roxas City.
Administered by Capiz governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro, Dadivas together with other elected local officials of this city took their oath of office on June 30 in front of the Roxas City Hall.
Dadivas, in his inaugural speech, assured to continue several beneficial programs and services which have the primary aim of promoting the welfare of the city residents.
Among these include the rice subsidy for the residents to combat hunger; beautification and improvements of the People’s Park to become a major attraction that the Roxasnons can be proud of; expansion and completion of the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center or the city’s public market which is currently under phase 2 of rehabilitation; budget allocation for financial assistance; and establishment of the Integrated Emergency Operations Center as proactive measure against calamities and disasters.
“Makasalig kamo nga ang aton ginahimo padayunon naton. Ang pagdula sang gutom sa aton kabarangayan paagi sa panagtag sang bugas, ang pagbulig naton sa mga na-ospital ukon nadulaan sang miyembro sang pamilya, yari gid ako magasalom sa inyo,” Dadivas told the Roxasnons.
He also thanked the people of Roxas especially the 65,127 residents who voted for him for their continued trust and confidence to lead the city.
As he starts his second term, Dadivas urged Roxasnons to be with him, to contribute, to partner, to possibly volunteer, and be a genuine member of the Roxas City family.
Meanwhile, Dadivas laid down the “receipts” of his service for the last three years.
“Beset by challenges to include storms and this pandemic, una kag pirmi ko gid ginsegurado nga indi ko kamo pagpabay-an,” he stressed.
First, he mentioned about the rice subsidy per family which was carried out since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Dadivas also noted that Roxas City was the first local government unit to operate an RT-PCR (reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction) laboratory, has proactive initiative like the comfortable and well-equipped quarantine and temporary treatment and monitoring facility, and assured availability of supplies and medicines like molnupiravir. He especially acknowledged the efficiency and dedication of city’s frontliners.
The Dadivas administration was also able to transform the city into a beautiful, conducive and clean one through the beautification of the city plaza; improvement of the 42-year old public market; redevelopment of Paseo Del Rio, Casa de Mercado and Riverside Promenade; lighting and road improvements, among others.
“Ini ang mga resibo nga nahimo nga nahuman naton bisan pa nga nahalitan kita sang pandemya. All these we were able to provide tungod ginakabig ko kamo nga pamilya, indi lang kasimanwa kundi pamilya. You are a family kag bilang pamilya, buloligan naton nga mapamag-an ang aton ginapas-an,” Dadivas expressed.
“Now with the new overwhelming mandate that you have given me is your thumbs up for how well I have been taking care of you and how sincere I have looked out for the welfare of each and everyone. Tungod sini padayon ang aton nga pagtrabaho kag mag-level up na kita,” he urged the city residents.
Dadivas further vowed to prioritize the interest of all and that he will always think of the welfare and betterment of the whole Roxas City, not just for the benefit and interest of a single man.
“So in the next three years, I will not always be a ‘yes man’ but a discerning father to all of you,” he assured.
Aside from Dadivas, Vice Mayor Teresa Almalbis also took her oath before Castro.
Also inaugurated were city councilors Dr. Pip Acepcion, Jaime Altavas, JP Arcenas, Atty. Paul Baticados, Rey Magallanes, Atty. Gary Potato, Herbert Koks Chu, and Bordz Viterbo.
Castro administered the oath of office of Roxas City officials after he and other provincial officials such as Vice Governor James Magbanua, Capiz 1st District’s Rep. Emmanuel Tawe Billones, Capiz 2nd District’s Rep. Jane Castro, and the board member had their oath of office earlier at the provincial capitol.
Dadivas further urged not only the Roxas City residents but also the people of the whole province of Capiz to put face for Capiz as a province that all can be proud of “because this time we are all united.”
Majority of the winning candidates last May 9 elections in the province and Roxas City belong to the Liberal Party.
Dadivas also thanked everyone who supported his journey as the mayor of the city.
