Best Practices: Information and Communications Technology in Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal (RCITT) Operation |
OVERVIEW: Last June 2014, The Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal (RCITT) started it's operation as an economic enterprise of the city government. Upon completion of its civil works (Loading bay, offices, stalls, comfort rooms, road network, etc.), a proposed installation of an automated ticketing system was put into effect. An in house Information Communication Technology (ICT) team designed and develop Terminal Management Information System. OBJECTIVE: To facilitate and efficiently reduce queuing of vehicle operators/drivers in the payment of their terminal fees.To record all transactions electronically in a database, issue receipts and monitor statistically vehicle use of the facility. INCOME and SERVICE STATISTICS: The collection and recording system can be reported real time and accurately. Vehicles that are served in the average is 450 – 500 in the daily operation. ANALYSIS: Cost in the system design and development was reduced to a minimum since the application software was designed and develop in house. Local Information and Communication Technology (ICT) suppliers benefited in the procurement process. Reporting of income from the terminal operation can be monitored real time. At every closing of business operation a report can be processed for management information. The role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) boast the service capability to clients, secured the records, timely reporting, employee morale upliftment and most of all improved/increase collections. SUMMARY: ADDED FEATURES IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) APPLICATION IS THE CLOSE CIRCUIT TELEVISION (CCTV) INSTALLED IN ALL CORNERS OF THE TERMINAL FACILITY. PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM (PA) TOO IS AVAILABLE. SECURITY IS ENHANCED AS WELL AS PUBLIC ASSISTANCE. NOT ONLY THAT WE HAVE A MODERN TRANSPORT TERMINAL, WE ALSO, EMPLOYED THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY IN POWER SOURCE SUCH AS THE SOLAR LIGHTING. Source: Ricardo B.
